Description from the seller
Enrico Della Torre woodcut Rarity!!
Enrico Della Torre was born in Pizzighettone, in the province of Cremona, on June 26, 1931.
After graduating from the Artistic High School of Brera in Milan, he enrolled in 1951 at Achille Funi's school at the Academy of Fine Arts, and in 1954 at Roberto Melli's Painting School in Rome. Stimulated by the writings of Francesco Arcangeli, he began to paint, practicing a dense, informal style also suggested by his view of the Abduan landscape in his hometown, a place he would continue to frequent for a long time, even though he later decided to settle permanently in Milan. The works from these early years were later exhibited in a solo show curated by Guido Ballo at the Galleria dell'Ariete in Milan in 1956. That same year, he also exhibited at the Galleria of the 'Circolo di Cultura' in Bologna. Dissatisfied with informal naturalism, at the end of 1957 he traveled to Paris to experience its artistic scene firsthand.
