Description from the seller
Piero Marchi (Borgo San Lorenzo, Florence, 1917 – Livorno 2002)
'Darsena' (Livorno), oil on board, 1970.
Piero Marchi moved to Livorno at a young age, where he worked for his entire life; he was a friend and student of Renato Natali, from whom he learned the passionate chromatic taste almost expressionist. The Livornese painting school originated from the innovative artistic research of the Macchiaioli painters, particularly their leader Giovanni Fattori.
This painting belongs to the most fortunate period of Piero Marchi's art, namely the 1970s, when he established himself with a very personal style that also made him known abroad, painting with a quick and confident 'touch' and using bright colors with strong contrasts.
Handwritten on the front bottom right and on the back (with the title).
The painting is housed in a beautiful golden frame (see photo), which is considered a kind gift from the seller.
Painting dimensions cm 30 x 60
Dimensions with frame cm 50 x 80
