The artist Vittorio Matino, one of Italy's most renowned exponents of abstract art, who made color, understood as pure luminous energy.
His artistic debut dates back to the early 1960s. From an expressionist painting with social themes, Matino gradually moved towards abstraction, engaging in the defense of this artistic movement marginalized by Italian critics.
His exhibition activity has been ongoing since 1967, with around a hundred solo shows and numerous group exhibitions across Europe—especially in France, where he spends long periods—and in the United States, where he has regularly exhibited in New York since 2002. His works are part of museums and private collections, including the Museo del Novecento in Milan, the collections of Intesa Sanpaolo, and the Prada Foundation.
