The book contains 120 slightly erotic drawings, including a color cover, 99 titled and captioned plates, a double-page plate, and 19 small drawings on the back of some plates. All these drawings feature Béguinette, a woman described as excelling 'in the feminine art of making old gentlemen suffer, whether they are too young or young gentlemen already old' (according to Pierre Veber's preface).
René Préjelan (1877-1968) is known for his drawings and sketches depicting women of the 1900s, as well as for his sporting and animal works.
