Description from the seller

延命冠者(えんめいかじゃ / Enmei-Kajō), the “Long-life Young Noble,” is a youth mask from the Okina lineage of Japanese Noh theatre. This Enmei-Kajō longevity youth mask shows a smiling young noble already associated with long life, carved in wood as a traditional Noh-style face.

Within the Okina / Shikisanban ritual complex, Enmei-Kajō appears as the youthful counterpart to the elder Chichinojō, expressing continuity between generations and the wish for prosperity and longevity. The narrow, gently upturned eyes and open, relaxed smile give a calm, auspicious presence rather than dramatic tension, shifting from modest serenity to a more radiant joy with small changes of tilt and light.
