Description from the seller
Deep Purple – Stormbringer
Limited Edition, 50,000 copies with a rare big poster.
Stormbringer is the ninth studio album by British rock band Deep Purple, released in 1974.
It marked an important phase in the band's history and featured some musical changes.
The album was recorded by Deep Purple's 'Mark III' lineup, considered one of the most iconic in the band's history.
This cast consisted of:
David Coverdale - vocals
Ritchie Blackmore - guitar
Jon Lord - organ and keyboards
Glenn Hughes - bass and vocals
Ian Paice - drums
"Stormbringer" differs musically from the band's previous albums as it features stronger funk and soul influences. This change in style was mainly due to the influence of David Coverdale and Glenn Hughes, who took over vocals and bass and brought a slightly different sound direction.
The album contains the title track 'Stormbringer,' which became one of the band's best-known songs.
The song combines Deep Purple's signature hard rock sound with funky rhythms and a catchy chorus.
In addition to 'Stormbringer', the album features songs such as 'Love Don't Mean a Thing', 'Holy Man', 'Lady Double Dealer', and 'Soldier of Fortune'. These tracks demonstrate the band's versatility in songwriting and musical expression.
Although 'Stormbringer' did not achieve the same commercial success upon its release as some of the band's previous albums, it is now recognized among Deep Purple fans as an important work.
The musical variety on the album showcased the band's ability to vary their sound, and it remains a staple of their extensive catalog.
