Description from the seller
This Waterman’s 452 represents one of the most refined designs from the Waterman house during the 1920s, still retaining a notable aesthetic and structural presence for a piece nearly a century old. Its body in ebonite coated with a silver overlay displays a perfectly defined geometric pattern, with no significant deformations or dents, preserving the elegance and artisanal precision characteristic of the era. The patina acquired over time adds an authentic and distinctive character, highly valued by discerning collectors.
The cap retains all its original elements, including the 'Clip-Cap' clip with its lower ball intact and a firm closure. The inscriptions, both on the cap and the body, remain clear and legible, highlighting the Waterman's nomenclature and the '1925' inscription engraved on the cullote, confirming its historical origin.
The section, made of ebonite, is in excellent condition, with no cracks or irregular wear. The 14-karat solid gold nib retains its structural integrity, with the iridium tip complete and well aligned, providing a smooth and precise stroke. The feed, also original, displays the characteristic deep-channel architecture of the brand, ensuring a steady ink flow.
The lever loading system functions correctly and solidly, with a firm mechanism and no play. The inner bag has been properly maintained or replaced according to conservation standards, ensuring a reliable user experience.
Overall, this Waterman's 452 presents itself as a highly collectible piece, aesthetically balanced and mechanically intact. It retains the historical charm and functional quality that distinguish the best vintage fountain pens, making it an exceptional choice for collectors and connoisseurs seeking an antique pen in authentic, complete, and fully operational condition.
It will be sent in a courtesy box for proper preservation.
