Original Meiji-period patinated bronze Suiban 水盤 (shallow ikebana bowl) from Japan, 10 cm high, 36.5 cm wide, 27 cm deep, weighing 4.4 kg, in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
An intriguing patinated bronze suiban 水盤 (shallow ikebana bowl) shaped as a stylised treasure mallet.
The surface along the sides adorned in low relief with an array of auspicious treasures associated with the Seven Lucky Gods 七福神 (Shichifukujin), such as the magic mallet 打ち出の小槌 (uchide nokozuchi) of Daikokuten 大黒天, the cloth bag 布袋 (nunobukuro) of Hotei, a peach of immortality from Jurōjin 寿老人, and the key to the treasure house 倉の鍵 (kura no kagi) of Benzaiten 弁才天.
The flat rim further decorated with four evenly spaced kura no kagi. The underside equally detailed, featuring a sinuous dragon 龍 (ryū) coiled at the centre of a medallion surrounded by various auspicious items in relief set on a wave pattern 青海波 (seigaiha). Raised on four sturdy low feet.

An intriguing patinated bronze suiban 水盤 (shallow ikebana bowl) shaped as a stylised treasure mallet.
The surface along the sides adorned in low relief with an array of auspicious treasures associated with the Seven Lucky Gods 七福神 (Shichifukujin), such as the magic mallet 打ち出の小槌 (uchide nokozuchi) of Daikokuten 大黒天, the cloth bag 布袋 (nunobukuro) of Hotei, a peach of immortality from Jurōjin 寿老人, and the key to the treasure house 倉の鍵 (kura no kagi) of Benzaiten 弁才天.
