In The Weight of the Dream, Laurent Chimento offers a deeply human portrayal of the clown, an emblematic figure of his pictorial universe. Sitting on vibrant-colored steps, the character appears tired, with lowered eyes, as if suspended in a moment of abandonment and solitude.
The colored balloons, attached behind him, contrast with his melancholic attitude. Symbols of lightness and celebration, they seem here to become a silent burden, emphasizing the tension between the joyful appearance and the character's intimacy. The intense palette, dominated by violets, ochres, and bright touches of yellow and turquoise, gives the scene a strong emotional charge.
The expressive and generous touch of the artist shapes the space while letting the material vibrate. The contours remain intentionally soft, almost moving, reinforcing the feeling of fragility and humanity. More than a portrait, this work evokes a state of mind, a pause between two representations, where the mask seems ready to fall.
A sensitive and powerful painting that will appeal to enthusiasts of contemporary figurative art and collectors drawn to narrative and introspective works.
Laurent Chimento is a professional painter born in 1974 in Manosque, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence.
He explores in his painting the territories of dreams and memory. His suspended villages, imaginary architectures, and lunar lights convey a quest for harmony between the real and the imaginary.
Through a vibrant palette where deep blues, golds, and incandescent reds converse, he creates interior landscapes imbued with poetry and mystery.
His style, which could be described as poetic expressionism, blends the spontaneity of gesture with a rigorous construction of volumes. Each work thus becomes a symbolic place, a refuge where light tells the soul of things.
Collectors from over 35 countries have acquired works by Laurent Chimento (USA, Mexico, Japan, China, Taiwan, Thailand, Australia, Lebanon, Spain, Italy, England, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, Greece, the Netherlands, Sweden, etc.).
Careful packaging and fast shipping with tracking and insurance for France and internationally.
