The Passiflora Languile (Wijnstok, Passionflower) is part of the FlorDali suite.
De suite is inspired by drawings of plants from the 17th and 18th centuries. The landscape is divided by straight lines that extend further into perspective, giving the scene the appearance of a dream or a mysterious world.
Created during a period when Dali possessed his greatest surrealist powers. The work is exuberant in color and highly detailed, and the image has a deeper meaning in Dalinian terms. Driven by the desire to place seemingly unrelated images and symbols side by side, Dali achieves an artistic effect that unites and transforms; he creates something new that has never existed before. Dali manages to change the meaning of the images, their interrelationships, and essentially creates a new concept and a 'way of seeing' in his own surrealist style, unique and inimitable.
