Description from the seller

Animated landscape inspired by Flemish art – Oil on canvas

Technique: Oil on canvas
Unframed dimensions: approximately 60 × 80 cm.
Condition: Old painting with age-related traces consistent with its antiquity.

This large painting depicts a typical rural landscape from the Flemish tradition of the 17th century, reminiscent of works from the circle of David Teniers, Gillis van Coninxloo, or even Baroque landscape painters.

Artistic description
The scene takes place in a vast countryside where, on the left, a village house surrounded by dense trees can be seen. Several characters animate the foreground: peasants gathered around a barrel, travelers on the road, a small dog, and other figures scattered across the landscape. In the distance, a church overlooks the valley, adding depth and elegance to the composition.

The palette is dominated by warm, earthy tones, contrasted by a bright sky that is slightly cloudy. The composition is well-structured, with a balance between nature, human figures, and architecture.

Historical and stylistic context
This type of scene fits within the tradition of 17th-century Flemish landscapes, where artists combined observation of nature with village scenes. Such paintings aimed to depict daily life while offering an idealized and poetic view of rural life.

Interest for collectors

Large format, very decorative.

Vivid and detailed scene

Sought-after classic style

Ideal for a traditional interior or a collection of antique art.

An interesting, authentic, and harmonious piece, ideal for enriching a collection or adding a natural and poetic touch to a wall.
Provenance: private collection.

An ideal addition for any refined decor seeking to combine light, tradition, and modernity.
