Description from the seller

Original work by the Portuguese artist ±MaisMenos± (Miguel Januário), titled 'YES OR NO FUTURE'.

Technique: screen print on acrylic Edition: /75 + 10 AP, signed and numbered by the artist
Dimensions: 40 × 40 × 0.2 cm

Miguel Januário (born 1981) is a Portuguese artist with a background in Communication Design and an academic career linked to research in Design at FBAUP. Throughout his career, he has developed a multidisciplinary artistic practice, combining urban intervention, graphic design, installation, performance, video, and sculpture.

He is the creator of the project ±MaisMenos±, an artistic intervention and social critique platform that has become a national and international reference in contemporary urban art, distinguished by its use of language, paradox, and irony as tools for political, social, and economic questioning. Additionally, he is also the author of the project KissMyWalls, which has a strong urban component, crossing graffiti, advertising, writing, and intervention in public space, integrating various artistic heteronyms — such as Caos, Mr. Death, and Naif — each with its own visual identity and aesthetic.

Miguel Januário is represented by Underdogs Gallery (Lisbon) and has collaborated with several internationally recognized artists, including Vhils, Shepard Fairey (Obey), Futura, Felipe Pantone, Barry McGee, Swoon, AddFuel, Wasted Rita, Icy and Sot, Bordalo II, Mosaik, RAM, Gonçalo MAR, and Nomen, among others.

His work has been showcased in solo and group exhibitions at significant institutional and gallery contexts, including Vera Cortês Art Agency (Lisbon), MACE – Museum of Contemporary Art of Elvas, Underdogs Gallery, Caixa Cultural (Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, and Brasília), Museum of Côa, Graça Morais Contemporary Art Center, MUDE – Museum of Design and Fashion, José Malhoa Museum, MACRO – Museum of Contemporary Art of Rome, Wunderkammern Gallery (Rome), and Celaya Brothers Gallery (Mexico City), among others.

Also participated in important festivals and international events of urban and contemporary art, such as Walk&Talk Festival, Guimarães European Capital of Culture, La Tour Paris 13, Wool Festival, Nuart Festival, Roskilde Festival, Imminent Festival (Lisbon, Rio de Janeiro, London, and Marseille), Trashplant Festival, Alter Ego Macau, Esporão, NEBFest Brussels, and Cáceres Abierto.

The ±MaisMenos± project was also the subject of two TED Talks, at TEDxLuanda (2014) and TEDxPorto (2015), in addition to numerous public and academic conferences.
