Description from the seller
This painting is one of my most intense works. In 'Oku' I wanted to move away from coldness and distance, evoking emotions directly through color and form.
While working on this painting, I focused on the idea of a gaze that not only observes but actually radiates energy. I wanted to create a composition from which you can't look away—a piece that almost shouts from the canvas.
The choice of palette was not accidental. Red, orange, and purple are colors of passion, fire, but also pain and anger. I designed the background in the form of dynamic, radiating brushstrokes that converge in the center. This serves to intensify the impression of centrifugal force, as if all the energy of the universe concentrates at that single point.
The central iris resembles a glowing star or a planet in a state of boiling. Its texture is thick, almost tangible. This is not an ordinary human eye – it is a symbol of vigilance, a divine presence, or an inner, burning conscience.
I placed vertical, dark streaks under the eye that resemble tears or blood. This introduces an element of tragedy. I wanted to show that even a force as powerful, almost solar, as this eye can carry sadness or suffering within it.
The 'Eye' for me is a study in intensity. I wanted the viewer to feel confronted by this gaze. It is a painting about a truth that can be burning and painful, but from which there is no escape. The radiant background suggests that what we see influences our entire surroundings — our gaze creates the world or destroys it.
This work is meant to evoke unease, as well as fascination, with the strength of the human spirit and emotions that can set reality alight.
