Purchased: May 2021

Classification: HED achondrite (Eucrite)

History: The meteorite was purchased from a group of meteorite hunters in Nouadhibou, Mauritania in May, 2021.

Physical characteristics: Many dark grayish fragments some of which almost completely covered with fusion crust.

Petrography: The meteorite is a coarse-grained breccia composed of up to 6 mm sized basaltic clasts and up to 2 mm sized mineral fragments set in fine-grained clastic matrix. Mineral phases are predominantly exsolved pyroxene and mostly blocky calcic plagioclase grains. Minor phases include silica, chromite, ilmenite, fayalite, and troilite. No metallic iron has been detected.

Geochemistry: low-Ca pyroxene: Fs63.5±0.7Wo2.9±1.1 (Fs62.2-64.1Wo1.6-4.8, FeO/MnO=29-31, n=5); Ca-pyroxene: Fs30.8±0.5Wo42.5±0.8 (Fs30.4-31.8Wo41.4-43.7, FeO/MnO=27-30, n=5); calcic plagioclass: An82.1±7.9 (An71.1-91.3, n=5).
