Bronze Japanese statue from the late 19th century, depicting a monk or demon holding an offering cup, Meiji period (c.1850–1900); dimensions 59 cm high, 23 cm wide, 17 cm deep, weight 10 kg; in good used condition with minor signs of aging and stains; not sold with a stand; one decorative crack noted that could be repaired with a simple weld.
Description from the seller
Fantastic Japanese statuette from the second half of the 19th century, made entirely of bronze.
Depict a monk or a demon holding a bowl of offerings.
Very detailed and decorated, it is structurally impeccable, very solid, just noting a break in a decorative part marked in the photos, which can be restored with a simple weld/repair to look like new, but I leave that decision to the buyer to resolve as they see fit.
A rare piece, large in size, very beautiful and full of history.
