Ancient Chinese opium pipe of very fine quality, dating from the late Qing dynasty (circa 1880–1920).
The shaft is made of natural bone, sculpted and carved, finely decorated with Chinese-lettered scenes, landscapes, calligraphy, and Taoist symbols, including a yin-yang.
The mounts and the hearth are made of patinated copper alloy, richly ornamented with a dragon in relief, a symbol of power and longevity.
An authentic, non-touristy object intended for traditional use or for collection.
