Description from the seller
This work is about practicing chess, a moment of calm and serenity. The atmosphere it radiates is deeply relaxed.
Short profile
I was born in Suriname, South America, and carry a rich cultural heritage within me: Surinamese, Indonesian, African, and Dutch. I grew up in the Netherlands, surrounded by the legacy of the old Dutch masters — in a country where Vermeer and Rembrandt are never far away.
A project for a perfume brand once took me to Venice. There, I was deeply moved by the baroque art, architecture, and the layered history of the city. That experience evoked something profound in me and became a lasting source of inspiration that still shapes my artistic vision.
Inspired by Baroque, fantasy, and cultural iconography, my visual language is both timeless and deeply personal.
I see femininity as a layered spectrum, from quiet harmony to strong presence.
My creative process is carefully constructed and deeply multidisciplinary. I build my sets with great attention to detail, integrating my other artistic passions: charcoal drawing, working with gold, textiles, and advanced photo manipulation. Every piece I create brings all these elements together into a cohesive expression.
The work is printed on Hahnemuhle Fine art baryta paper, 300 grams. The size of the white border around it may vary.
