Adela Marchewka's Yvette - batik, a double-sided portrait in wax-resist on canvas, 77 × 88 cm, original edition from Poland, hand-signed, inspired by Toulouse-Lautrec's Guilbert Yvette, in pristine condition.
Description from the seller
Batik - a double-sided painting, wax-resist on canvas, 77x88 cm, inspired by the work "Guilbert Yvette" by Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec.
Batik is a very labor-intensive, time-consuming, and unpredictable technique. It involves applying hot wax to fabric, and then dyeing it in dye baths. A characteristic feature of batik is the network of cracks formed when the wax cracks. As seen in the photos, batik is double-sided; when backlit or hung in a window it takes on vivid colors like stained glass.
Batik is traditionally mounted in bamboo, which allows the work to be shipped rolled up in a scroll. If, however, someone prefers framed pictures, it is easy to remove the staples that attach the batik to the bamboo.
The author of the work is Adela Marchewka, a graduate of higher artistic studies with a Master of Arts degree. After her studies, she explored the secrets of batik (wax painting) and attended the Open Academy in the Faculty of Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. She has participated in numerous exhibitions. Member of the Polish Association of Fine Artists.
Batik is shipped rolled up in a tube. Shipping with a tracking number will be carefully secured and sent within 3 business days. Local pickup is available.
