Sekishun Kato - Tea bowl - Ceramic - Nerikomi pottery box
A Japanese Raku ware confectionery bowl by Sekishun Kato (加藤石春), accompanied by its original signed wooden storage box (tomobako).
The bowl features a deep black glaze with subtle tonal variation, characteristic of early 20th-century Raku ceramics. The softly rounded form and calm surface convey a restrained presence, suitable for both tea gatherings and display.
The glaze known as “Tatsuta-nishiki”, associated with Sekishun Kato’s work, shows gentle depth and warmth rather than strong contrast.
This piece reflects the quiet aesthetics of Taishō to early Shōwa period Japanese pottery.
