Wonderful stone-carved statue of Ganesha, a Hindu deity. Ganesha is the Hindu god of wisdom, intellect, new beginnings, and the remover of obstacles, being the patron of the arts, sciences, and writers, and he is invoked before any important activity to ensure success and good fortune.
In Hindu philosophy, the swastika (svastika), which means "well-being," is an ancient symbol of auspiciousness, good fortune, prosperity, and the eternity of the universe, representing the sun and continuity. It is found in temples, homes, and rituals, symbolizing welcome, peace, and the presence of the divine as in Krishna's footprints, with specific meanings in Vastu Shastra, Yoga, and in the distinction between its clockwise direction (prosperity) and counterclockwise (withdrawal of the universe).
The lot is accompanied by a small, antique red steatite jewelry box with an intricately hand-carved design.
8 centimeters in diameter and 3.5 centimeters in height.
