Valentin Prévot's work is realistic and figurative. Through his drawings and paintings, he carries out a process of political and identitarian investigation into his history as well as that of his family. His current artistic practice aims to pay homage to him while also perpetuating his ideas and his journey, anchoring them in time.
With the help of portraits, paintings/drawings, and the desire to understand and appropriate this history, Valentin has now been working for several months on a series of graphic “objects” and installations intended to complement this archive background, to add his gaze, his sensitivity, and his artistic voice.
Some of his works draw inspiration from Schiele, Kokoschka, but also from German expressionists such as Dix and Grosz. The central theme of his work concerns questions of transmission and intergenerational traumas. Valentin has understood that through this history he could address topics close to his heart, such as questions of identity, the work of research and transmission, as well as ideological, philosophical, and political excesses...
