Description from the seller
Description of the work:
Oil painting on Korean mulberry paper. The work is an original signed by the artist Valentin Prévot. Its format is 23x20 cm. It is sold directly by the artist with a certificate of authenticity. Its condition is excellent.
The work will be sent unframed in a protected package.
Valentin Prévot's work is realistic and figurative. Through his drawings and paintings, he conducts a process of political and identitarian exploration of his history as well as that of his family. His current artistic practice aims to pay homage to him but also to keep his ideas and his journey alive, anchoring them in time.
With portraits, paintings/drawings, and the will to understand and appropriate this history, Valentin has now been working for several months on a series of “graphic” objects and installations intended to complement this archive background, to add his gaze, his sensitivity, and his voice as an artist.
Some of his works draw inspiration from Schiele, Kokoschka, and also German expressionists such as Dix and Grosz. The central theme of his work concerns questions of transmission and intergenerational trauma. Valentin has understood that through this history he could address all topics that personally mattered to him, including questions of identity, the work of research and transmission, and ideological, philosophical, and political excesses...
