Work Description:
This lithograph from 1973 depicts Neptune in the foreground with his trident, accompanied by a fantastical sea creature. The god's powerful figure emerges through a skilled hatch that creates volume and depth. In the background, in a more ethereal dimension, a mythological scene with a chariot drawn by horses is glimpsed. The work reflects De Chirico's return to the classical and mythical themes of his mature production, reinterpreted with his characteristic metaphysical sensibility.
