Armando Cuniolo, having left a secure post as a civil servant (draughtsman), in 1920 began attending the courses at the local Academy of Fine Arts, obtaining several important recognitions and honing the drawing abilities he had already demonstrated.
His debut takes place in Genoa in 1930, and he exhibits for the first time at the Valle Art Gallery in 1932; the following year he is at Palazzo Rosso, where he receives significant praise from the local critics.
From 1933 to 1935 he is in Switzerland; upon his return he settles in Milan, while maintaining close ties with the Ligurian art scene and continuing to participate in Genoese exhibitions.
An author of landscapes, figures, and still lifes, he is known for his desire to experiment with new techniques, attracted to Novecento-influenced painting.
It moves from Post-Impressionism to Cubism to Futurism; the production from the twenties to the thirties is central, when in Milan the Novecento movement was born and progressed, founded by Margherita Sarfatti.
Note his frequent depictions of dancers in motion; his measured adherence to Cubism is evident in the use of very bright color contrasts.
Arnando Cuniolo, between 1945 and 1955, devoted himself to the creation of sketches for textile printing, using a personal technique, and in his later years to the execution of small tempera paintings depicting doves, in the manner of Severini.
A mention should also be given to his work as a set designer, and for this he collaborates actively with a Hungarian company of theatrical revues.
They take part in numerous solo exhibitions in major galleries in Milan, Genoa, Rome, Venice, Turin, Bergamo, Brescia, Verona, etc.
Within the scope of the VII Quadriennale in Rome, his latest work 'Festival alla Foce', Genoa 1955, is chosen for the G.A.M. of Rome.
Her works in the Public Galleries of Genoa, Mondovì, and Aosta.
Numerous awards have been received: Tende, Alberoni, Albano, Saint Vincent.
An eclectic artist, a master of the art of drawing, he has also demonstrated, through his works, a deep sensitivity and a wish to make the artistic ferment of the times his own.
Frame as a gift: no disputes regarding its condition will be accepted.
