Style: seascape landscaping
Technique: Oil on cardboard
Author:
Trinitat Torné was a Catalan painter active from the late 19th century to the first half of the 20th century, specializing in landscapes and seascapes. His work is characterized by a naturalistic and sensitive view of the surroundings, with special attention to atmospheric effects, Mediterranean light, and a loose but controlled brushstroke. His body of work is framed within the Catalan landscape tradition, with influences from Realism and late Impressionism.
The composition depicts a coastal scene marked by serenity, in which a rocky cliff descends toward a small cove with light-colored sand. The sea, rendered in blue and greenish tones, lies calm, with gentle undulations that reflect the light of the sky. In the distance, the profile of the coast fades into the horizon, contributing depth and a sense of breadth to the overall scene. The brushwork is fluid and natural, especially in the treatment of the water and the rock formations, while the color palette conveys a luminous, Mediterranean atmosphere characteristic of seascape painting from the period.
The piece presents a carved and gilded wooden frame, of a classical character, with a wide molding and relief decoration. It shows a patina typical of the passage of time, with small losses and wear to the gilding, in keeping with its age and use.

The frame comes as a gift. It may be damaged during transport even if it is properly packaged.
