Description from the seller

Item Description

This is a refined Japanese tea bowl (chawan) made in the Kyoto ware (Kyo-yaki) tradition, featuring a cinnabar (Shinsya / Tansha) glaze with kiln transformation effects. The surface displays a soft bluish-gray base with natural iron speckling and subtle kiln marks, creating a calm yet expressive wabi-sabi aesthetic. The glaze variation and organic textures are the result of high-temperature firing, making each piece unique. The bowl is accompanied by its original wooden storage box (tomobako) with calligraphy indicating the glaze and item type, adding to its collectability and authenticity. Suitable for tea ceremony use as well as for display in a Japanese art collection.
