Violin 4/4 labelled Joannes Franciscus Pressenda, dated 1829, in good playable condition.
Description from the seller
You are bidding on a very fine old master 4/4 violin, labeled Joannes Franciscus Pressenda q Raphael fecit Taurini anno Domini 1829.
The instrument remains in good ready to play condition with some small repaired cracks on top, good rosewood and ebony set up, new bridge and new strings. The whole length of the violin is 586 mm and the back 354 mm. The width of the upper bouts: 165 mm; middle bouts: 112 mm; lower bouts: 202 mm.
Materials: very nice one piece flamed maple back with matched sides and scroll and straight high grained spruce top. The inlaid purfling is very shiny, nearly pitch black and made of wale bone. The f-holes are beautifully executed. Golden-brown-reddish varnish with tears and wears.
The sound is very deep, rich, powerful, suitable for soloist.
