Casio F-1 electronic desktop calculator, vintage 1970s industrial design from Japan, in good working order with a 10-digit fluorescent display and dimensions 24 cm (H) × 19 cm (W) × 6 cm (D).
Description from the seller
This is a vintage CASIO F-1 electronic desktop calculator, manufactured in Japan in the early 1970s (Showa 45 era, circa 1970).
The F-1 belongs to CASIO’s formative period of electronic calculator development and represents an important milestone in the history of digital office equipment.
Featuring a 10-digit fluorescent display, this model was designed for professional use at a time when electronic calculators were still expensive, highly engineered machines rather than disposable consumer products. Its substantial weight, sharply defined casing, and generously sized keys reflect the serious, industrial design philosophy of the era. The angled display with glowing numerals gives the calculator a strong retro-futuristic presence that is especially attractive to collectors of early computing technology.
The CASIO F-1 is increasingly difficult to find in fully functional condition. This example has been tested and confirmed to be in working order, making it not only a display piece but also a rare opportunity to experience an authentic early digital calculator as originally intended. It operates on two D-size batteries (not included) or via an optional AC adapter (adapter not included). Batteries cannot be supplied due to international shipping regulations.
As an object, this calculator sits at the intersection of industrial design, early digital technology, and Japanese postwar manufacturing excellence. It is highly suitable for collectors of vintage electronics, design museums, or enthusiasts of Showa-era Japanese technology.
