Description from the seller
Title: The Farmwoman
School: European School (20th century)
Style: Costumbrist
Technique: Oil on panel
The scene depicts a young peasant girl in a rural setting, feeding several farm animals, among which geese and a sheep stand out, arranged in the foreground. The female figure, dressed in traditional attire, stands before a wooden palisade, surrounded by abundant vegetation that adds depth and naturalness to the composition. In the background, an open landscape with a clear sky is visible, balancing the color of the scene. The work is notable for its narrative quality and its gentle treatment of the rural world, with a loose yet precise brushwork typical of early 20th-century European genre painting, and careful attention to color and everyday expressions.
The piece features a golden wooden frame with a classic profile, carved moldings, and restrained decoration. The frame shows patina and light wear consistent with its age, which reinforces the decorative and traditional character of the ensemble.
The frame comes as a gift. It may be damaged during transport even if it is properly packaged.
