Floral brooch in 950 platinum, sapphires (16.00 ct) and diamonds (5.60 ct). Europe, 20th century. Impressive European brooch from the 20th century, executed in 950/1000 platinum, with an elegant large-scale floral composition. The piece depicts a sinuous branch, formed by nine flowers, whose petals consist of numerous blue navette-cut sapphires, totaling 16.00 ct. The center of each flower is ornamented with a brilliant-cut diamond, bringing the nine central diamonds to a total estimated weight of approximately 2.80 ct. The trunk and curved branches are lavishly pavé-set with brilliant-cut, 8/8 cut and baguette diamonds, also with an estimated total weight of approximately 2.80 ct. The total estimated weight of the diamonds present in the piece is thus about 5.60 ct. The reverse features an open, carefully worked structure, with a fixing system of two pins, suitable to the dimensions and weight of the jewel. Marked with Portuguese contrasts “papagaio” and “andorinha”, corresponding to the period 1985 to 2020, though it is older.
