Description from the seller
Lot of 4 Cane Handles - Animal and Figurative Theme - Bronze, Wood and Carved Resin - 20th Century
Lot Description
Magnificent set of four decorative grips for collectible canes, each with a distinctive style and material. This lot is ideal for both restorers of antique canes and collectors of display-case items.
Parts details:
Bronze Horsehead: A robust bronze handle cast with a natural gold patina. It features a stylized design with details in the ears and eyes. Threaded base ready for mounting.
Bust of a Gentleman with Pipe (Wood): A detailed wood carving depicting a man with a black bowler hat and a pipe in his mouth. The workmanship on the beard and facial features stands out.
Elephant Head (Ivory Style): A high-density resin piece or carved composite with a finish that mimics aged ivory. Includes meticulous details in the wrinkles of the trunk and ears. Retains the original threaded mounting stud.
Parrot Head / Psittacine Bird: An ergonomic handle carved with great detail in the plumage and an eye inlaid for contrast. Aged finish that highlights the texture of the feathers.
Condition of conservation
Condition: Generally good, with normal signs of use and age (natural patina).
Observations: The elephant head shows some superficial cracks due to the passage of time that give it character (see photos). The bird head has a small notch at the top of the eye, barely noticeable.
It is recommended to carefully review the photos for an accurate assessment of the condition of the parts.
Technical Specifications
Materials: Bronze, carved wood, and composite resin.
Era: Mid-20th Century.
Dimensions: Standard sizes for men's and walking canes (approximately 8–12 cm in length/height each).
