Andrea Favero was born in San Zenone degli Ezzellini, in the province of Treviso, on March 26, 1837. A pupil of the Venice Academy, he made his debut in 1856 at the Venetian Exhibition, presenting the painting Atrio Moresco, awarded the gold medal. He attended the Marche Exhibition in 1871 and the Mantua Industrial Exhibition in 1878. In 1900 at the Universal Exposition in Paris he won the Grand Prize; in the same year at the Milan Exhibition he won a gold medal. He favored genre scenes, perspectival views, and portraits, using both oil and watercolor.

Among his most famous works we recall: The Compulsory School, Baptistery of the Cathedral of Messina, Struck by Lightning, The Three Friends, The Rest, The Spinning Top.
