Description from the seller
Hans Nickel was born on 29 December 1916 in the Sudetenland (Mährisch Lotschnau, Zwittau District). Even in his childhood, he used a drawing pencil to capture his surroundings, especially animals, in pictures. He received a state scholarship and studied at the art school in Brno under Professor Langer, painting church murals.
He undertook study trips to Southern European countries as well as Hungary, Austria, and Switzerland. During World War II he worked as a war painter in Poland, Russia, and France. Even after the war, the artist began another intensive study and primarily engaged with painters such as v. Zügel, Braith, and Mali. Thereafter he settled as a painter in Altdorf near Nürtingen (Baden-Württemberg), where he collaborated, among others, with Professor Lichtblau in Stuttgart. The artist has made a name for himself with his animal motifs both at home and abroad. The rural scenery, which today is increasingly displaced by advancing motorization, is his main interest. He has a unique ability to depict rural life in a fascinating and true-to-life manner. In addition to his name Hans Nickel, he also used the names Hans Costa, Hans Bräuning, and Hanauska.
The recordings were taken in daylight and without any additional filters. Please note that there may still be color deviations from the original, depending on the display device.
