Set of 5 Japanese Gold Lacquer Sake Cups
This is a complete set of five traditional Japanese lacquer sake cups (sakazuki), crafted from natural wood and finished with urushi lacquer. The interior of each cup features a luxurious gold lacquer surface, delicately decorated with hand-painted auspicious motifs: bamboo, pine, crane, tortoise, and plum blossom.
These motifs are collectively known in Japan as symbols of longevity, prosperity, and good fortune, making this set particularly suitable for celebratory occasions or refined collection display. The exterior is finished in a deep red lacquer, creating a striking contrast with the gold interior.
The set originates from Aizu-Wakamatsu, a region renowned for its long history and high-quality lacquerware production. All five cups are housed in their original presentation box.
