Waterman Ideal N45 fountain pen in ebonite, made in the United States in the first half of the 20th century, with a retractable gold nib, 134 mm long and 12 mm in diameter, in good used condition with minor age-related imperfections.
Description from the seller
The pen is presented in very good overall condition, especially noteworthy considering its age and the complexity of its mechanism. The body and cap, made of ebonite with a geometric pattern, retain their natural shine, uniform color, and defined relief, with no visible cracks, fissures, or deformations.
The original engravings remain sharp and perfectly legible, including the Waterman's inscriptions, ideal, patent references, and model markings, which demonstrate minimal wear and careful use over time.
The retractable nib mechanism is complete and properly aligned, demonstrating smooth operation in the extension and retraction movements, without apparent looseness or visible jams.
The gold nib shows good alignment, an intact tip, and a well-defined heart-shaped breathing hole. No deformations, cracks, or structural damages are observed. The surface displays only micro surface marks consistent with age and normal use.
The golden metallic elements, including the clip and the central ring, retain a good aesthetic appearance, with slight and uniform wear consistent with the age of the piece, without significant material loss or active oxidation.
Overall, it is a very well-preserved piece, attractive to both collectors and experienced users of antique pens, standing out for its integrity, originality, and historical value.
It will be sent in a courtesy box for proper preservation.
