AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

The present owner/seller who knew Donleavy personally purchased these autographed designs at a Donleavy exhibition at Tom Caldwell's Art Gallery in Dublin circa 1987. As mentioned in one of Donleavy's own books (The History of the Ginger Man) JP wrote that at the time he had no money to have the book cover designed by a professional so he did it himself and here you are. These designs were finally never used and remained in the writers possession for all those years. They were also shown in the Donleavy Compendium as a fan's gesture by the present owner/seller. The very first original edition of The Ginger Man was published as no. 7 in the very controversial Travellers Companion series of the Olympia Press in Paris (the green book) in the late 1950's. This very rare edition (and others) are equally available from this seller.

The last photo is of my dad with JP Donleavy.
