Description from the seller

This is an elegant Japanese hanging scroll depicting a fruit still life, executed in hand-painted ink and color on silk. The work is signed Suimura (翠村) and presents a calm, refined composition focusing on natural forms and seasonal abundance.

The fruits are rendered with delicate brushwork and soft coloration, emphasizing freshness, texture, and harmonious balance. Such still-life subjects were appreciated for both their decorative beauty and their symbolic associations with harvest, prosperity, and seasonal change in Japanese art.

The scroll is mounted in traditional format with bone rollers, and comes complete with its original storage box, suitable for preservation and collection. The silk ground enhances the subtle gradation of colors and the clarity of the brush lines.

Fruit and still-life scrolls were often displayed in tokonoma as tasteful seasonal decorations, making this an appealing example of traditional Japanese painting suitable for collectors of hanging scrolls and nature-themed artworks.
