Jan Henderikse, JFK, hand-signed, limited edition (EA), 2015, in excellent condition, 79.5 × 59.5 cm, 1 kg, mixed media in Pop Art style depicting Pop culture, Netherlands, sold by Galerie.
Description from the seller
'JFK' is a so-called intaglio print or blind embossing based on a large number of impressions from a 50-cent coin bearing the portrait of John Fitzgerald Kennedy (JFK), produced by one of the Netherlands' best-known artists from the post-war period. The work is in exceptionally good condition.
Jan Henderikse (1937) is one of the most prominent Dutch visual artists active after 1960. He lives alternately in New York and Antwerp.
Jan Henderikse, together with Armando, Henk Peeters, Jan Schoonhoven, and Herman de Vries, formed the core of the so-called Nul-Beweging (the Dutch branch of the international Zero movement). With their exhibition at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam in the 1960s, they in one fell swoop turned the Dutch art scene on its head.
Jan Henderikse pursued his own path to some extent and became especially known for assemblages made from waste and 'rejects' and everyday objects, moves his work to sit closely with Pop Art. Money is a well-known theme in Henderikse's work; for example, he also glued coins in geometric patterns or patches onto different surfaces.
This piece is offered to you by Apunto Gallery. If desired, an invoice from the gallery can be obtained with the artwork.
