Description from the seller

Polychrome plaster sculpture (in several colors) and gilded, depicting the Virgin Mary with one hand against her chest,
in a mood of contemplation; she is housed in a small altar or niche (miniature altarpiece) serving as a frame or sanctuary. She is wearing a red robe and a long green-blue draped cloak, set against a heavily gilded background. She stands on a small ornamental plinth.
The architectural style of the niche, with its pointed arch and its gabled roof, as well as the drapery of the figure, are typical elements of religious Medieval style (Gothic, Neo-Gothic, or Renaissance), but its realization may be later.
The sculpture is in the round, i.e., it is a relief designed to be viewed from the front.
This heavily gilded sculpture is typical of devotional art of that period.
Symbolism of gold: divine light
A unique and precious piece of sacred art, sought after by collectors of antiquities and religious art.

In very good condition.
Original wall crochet.
Height 33 cm
Width 22cm
Weight 1.087 kg
