Description from the seller

A Japanese Shigaraki ware chawan (tea bowl) dating from the early to mid-20th century.
This piece features a soft, natural clay body with expressive brush decoration in earthy brown tones and subtle blue vertical accents, creating a calm and wabi-sabi atmosphere.

The form is slightly irregular, offering a comfortable hand feel, typical of traditional Shigaraki aesthetics.
The base bears an impressed mark reading “Shigaraki”, indicating production associated with the Shigaraki kiln tradition. The individual potter is not identified.

The chawan is accompanied by its original wooden tomobako and a cloth, which add to its authenticity and collectability.

A refined example suitable for tea practice or as a collectible piece of Japanese ceramic art.
