his expressionist language remains unchanged. In the chromatic range, the cool tones of blues, greens, and purples usually prevail. From a formal point of view, the process of synthesis is also accentuated by a notable painterly quality in the construction of the image, which relies mainly on the laying down of color. Thus space tends to flatten, to become two-dimensional, and objects come to life in a vibrant and dynamic execution.
Eliano Fantuzzi was born in Modena in 1909 and died in 1989. He spent his childhood in Verona, where he had moved with his family and where he attended the Academy of Art .
Fundamental to his formation was the experience in Paris, where he arrived to study Impressionism and where, instead, he learned Expressionism. His nocturnal settings, in which blue and violet tones predominate, were also painterly influenced by the 'Roman School.' He participated in the Rome Quadriennale and in the Venice Biennale.
