Art Deco oak coffee/side table from the Netherlands, dating to the 1920s, with a brass top engraved with an oriental motif, in good used condition with minor signs of age.
Description from the seller
Beautiful Art Deco smoking table / side table. It is a typical design from the 1920s. The table does not yet display the clean lines of the Hague School or the Amsterdam School, nor does it have the rounded shapes of Art Nouveau.
The weight of the small table is almost 6.5 kg, its height 68 cm and the diameter of the top 50 cm. The table is made of Dutch oak, still dried in the old-fashioned way. The top of the side table is made of laid-on brass that is engraved with images in a kind of Eastern motif (see photos). Laid-on brass is thin-rolled brass. This was then stretched over the wood of the top. In this way a top was created that could not burn if a cigarette or cigar fell from the ashtray.
The table was probably manufactured in the 1920s. This kind of small tables was often used as smoking tables. The table is still 100% original (see photos).
This table is still in very good condition and stable. Because of the design, there is a slight wobble, but all tables of this design have that. Here and there it shows signs of use. These are all just signs of use. It is still usable as a coffee table, but of course also simply as a side table.
The table is skillfully packaged and shipped insured.
