Sven-Arne Hökenström, Pinocchio Dreams, mixed media on canvas, original edition, created in the 2010–2020 period, 38.5 × 55.5 cm, Sweden, signed, in excellent condition, sold by Galerie.
Description from the seller
The painting "Pinocchio Dreams" by Sven-Arne Hökenström depicts a dreamy, distorted scene with a Pinocchio-like figure at the center: The clown with a long nose, yellow hat, and red cap looks upward, surrounded by blue clouds and yellow stars against a dark, nighttime backdrop.
On the left, a large hand with splayed fingers intrudes, on the right house shapes appear and a white face with red lips; garish bright colors such as red, yellow, and blue dominate in thick, expressive strokes, complemented by collage elements.
The naive, expressionist style captures a surreal dreamlike state – childlike, uncanny, playful –, typical of Hökenströms' mixed media with acrylic and appliqué on canvas.

About the Artist:
Sven-Arne „Höken“ Hökenström (1947–2025) was a Swedish artist from Stockholm, known as a pioneer of graffiti art in Sweden and as a former set painter at the Royal Theatre.
Born in a rough suburb like Aspudden, he developed a raw, expressive style that blends naive art with surreal, figurative elements and vibrant colors—often in mixed media such as acrylic or pastels.
His work, including 'Pinocchio Dreams', reflects a creative soul who turns theatricality and the everyday into feverish scenes; he died in 2025 in Norrtälje and left a legacy as Stockholm's cultural icon.
