Grzegorz Gust presents the oil painting Płonąca stodoła (Autumn Scene), an original 80 by 60 cm work signed and created in 2025, featuring a multicolour palette of red, yellow and orange and depicting a fiery, transformative scene in an impasto style.
Description from the seller
In this painting I aimed to capture the destructive—and at the same time fascinating—force of fire. "Burning Barn" is not a literal illustration of a fire—it’s a study of the element, of light, and of the violent transformation of matter. This work is meant to vibrate with energy and to attract the eye with its non-obvious structure.
The use of oil paints allowed me to build fleshy, thick textures. The right-hand side of the canvas almost seems to come out at the viewer thanks to the impasto technique, conveying the rawness of charred wood and the glow of embers.
A composition based on vertical brushstrokes and spatula strokes builds tension. Here we see a clash between hot reds and yellows and cooler, darker grays and browns, which creates an incredible effect of drama and depth.
Thanks to layered color application, the image “burns” anew with every light source. In bright sunlight, vivid oranges dominate, whereas in the evenings, under point lighting, the mysterious darkness and the texture of the scorch marks come to the foreground.
Thanks to the 80x60 cm format, the painting has ideal proportions to become a dominant focal point in a modern living room or bedroom. Its intense, warm color palette perfectly counters the cold of minimalist grays, concrete, or white, bringing energy and authentic artistic edge to the room.
Signed artwork, ready for display. The painted sides allow it to be hung without a frame, highlighting its modern and austere character.
