Description from the seller

Mariska Karto is born in Suriname, South America, and carry a rich cultural heritage. She has Surinamese, Indonesian, African and Dutch roots. Mariska is a visual artist who places the human figure at the center of her work, exploring its vulnerability and strength. Inspired by Baroque, fantasy, and cultural iconography, her imagery is both timeless and deeply personal. In her visual language she photographs with her own personal perspective, using sensuality, cultural archetypes, social themes, to merge it into still, narrative worlds. Mariska is a global artist and has exhibited internationally several times.

Mariska Karto started her career as photo artist in 2010 and in 2012 officially. In short time she has won various well known international awards (including the PX3 Prix De La Photographie De Paris, First place Gold Award, in complete category Professionals Fine Art) and is also nominated as Ambassador of tolerance in 2016.”
