Description from the seller
A rare silkscreen print by the Frankfurt-based artist Robert Freund from 1969—an outstanding example of his graphic work from the heyday of his artistic development.
The sheet measures approx. 44 × 34 cm, is part of a limited edition of 78 copies, and stands out with a powerful visual language that thematizes human expression in an abstracted form – a visual statement between figuration and abstraction that reflects the spirit of the late 1960s.
Robert Freund (1929–1999) was a prominent German painter, sculptor, and graphic artist from Frankfurt am Main. He studied, among others, with Theo Garve at the Städelschule Evening School and for decades shaped the local art scene—both through numerous exhibitions and through his work as an art educator and as a co-founder of the „Ffter Malakademie“. His versatile work includes paintings, sculptures, and graphic series, in which especially the human image and its expressive interpretation are central. Freund was a member of the Professional Association of Visual Artists Frankfurt and of the International Art Guild in Monte Carlo. His work is characterized by a nuanced engagement with form, color, and figure—always carried by a deep humanistic approach.
