Montblanc Masterpiece 742N fountain pen with a vermeil gold-plated silver body, manufactured in Germany, 12.9 cm long and 1.1 cm in diameter, in good used condition with minor signs of wear and a functioning piston filling system.
Description from the seller
A0000002068
The pen is in very good overall condition, maintaining an excellent aesthetic and structural presence for a vintage model from this era.
The body and the cap, made of sterling silver with gold plating (vermeil), retain a uniform, bright gold finish with very slight wear that is consistent with use and age, visible only under close inspection. No dents, dings, or deformations are noticeable; the wavy engraving remains sharp, deep, and well defined across the entire surface.
The central ring, engraved 'Montblanc', clearly preserves its inscription, with only minimal signs of surface wear, no material loss or deformities. The golden clip is straight, firm, and correctly aligned, maintaining good shine and functional tension.
The white Montblanc emblem at the top of the cap is complete, well centered, and flawless, a feature especially valued in this model.
The solid 14C (585) gold nib is original, features well-defined engravings, and shows proper alignment of the falcons, with no signs of abnormal wear, bite marks, or visible repairs. The writing tip retains a good profile and finish.
The piston feed system is functioning correctly, with smooth rotation and full travel, indicating an internal mechanism in good working order.
All told, this is an honest, well-cared-for, and well-preserved piece, ideal for both collection and occasional use, that preserves the character and elegance of the postwar Montblanc Masterpiece.
It will be sent in a courtesy box for proper preservation.
Good auction!
