Description from the seller

Splendid oil painting on jute from the 1700s depicting Saint Teresa in a mystical, prayerful pose.
The painting has been restored. The frame is included as a gift and is from the 1990s.
A painting meticulously detailed and complete in every respect. It is, in fact, conceived as a place where the Saint is praying.
The features of the face are meticulously crafted, with eyes that express intensity, the nose, the mouth, and hands joined in prayer. The gaze in prayer is splendidly intense, as if the eyes were directed toward heaven.
She is kneeling. She completes the look with the black nun’s habit, with the white part at the collar and on the head to cover the parts of the body.
A halo on the head.
They complete the picture on the right, flowers in colors on dark beige, while on the left a
Red drapery and a green table.
The dominant color of the painting behind the Saint is brown.
A painting in which the mystical image of the Saint at prayer is highlighted, without neglecting the details of the place where she is praying.
I don’t know if this refers to Saint Teresa of Lisieux, called Teresina of the Child Jesus, who entered the Carmelite Order at a young age, famous for the Little Way of daily holiness, patroness of missions, or to Saint Teresa of Avila, reformer of the Carmelite Order, mystic and writer, who founded convents and inspired Carmelite spirituality. So when one hears about Saint Teresa in a religious context, it is almost always certain that it refers to a religious woman, often of the Carmelite order or inspired by it.
She was religious, mystical, a dramatist, Doctor of the Church.
As these are family portraits, I know the people depicted because they are described by my own family.
It comes from a private collection, along with the other items from the family palace, some of which I have sold.
The painting measures 50 cm by 42 cm with a frame from the 1990s, while without a frame it is 39 cm by 31 cm.
It is ready to be learned.
A painting that fits into a classical interior, perhaps hung on a wall with other pictures or on its own, or in a modern home, thanks to the beauty of the painting. Although it is a religious image, it is not a heavy painting.
For shipping, I use private couriers instead of postal services because they arrive faster, provide double packaging, and make communication simpler.
Shipping costs vary depending on whether the destination is Europe—tier 1 or 2 (e.g., United Kingdom, Switzerland, Eastern European countries), tier 3 (e.g., Norway, Malta, and Cyprus), or the rest of the world.
The customs duties will be paid by the buyer.
