Description from the seller
This large oil painting on canvas by American artist Lynn Buettner, born in 1955, presents a lush impressionistic garden captured at the height of bloom.
Dense flower beds rise beneath softly arched trellises, creating depth and rhythm that encourage the eye to move slowly through the composition. Executed in thick impasto, the surface carries confident, expressive brushwork and rich, saturated color. Light and movement are suggested rather than described, giving the painting a sense of warmth and quiet presence rather than formality.
The overall impression is that of walking through a private garden in full growth, calm, immersive, and unhurried. This balance of abundance and restraint is characteristic of Buettner’s contemporary American Impressionist approach and contributes to the painting’s strong decorative and emotional appeal.
The work is signed “Buettner” in the lower corner, a documented stylized variation of the artist’s surname.
The painting is presented in an ornate gold finished frame that enhances the richness of the palette and gives the work a finished, interior ready presence.
A gallery label from The Weary Fox, Seaside, Oregon, is affixed to the reverse, addressed to the artist, providing supporting provenance and confirming professional gallery handling.
The work likely dates from the late 20th century, approximately the 1980s to early 2000s.
The canvas remains structurally sound with excellent color retention and intact impasto. The frame shows only minor age related wear consistent with careful ownership.
