The Space We Didn’t Cross - Hand signed, a 40 × 40 cm giclée on canvas by Le Yack, in a limited edition of 20, produced in France.
Description from the seller
In this nocturnal scene, a man and a woman sit facing each other, separated by a narrow table and thick silence. The setting, an almost deserted cafe, is bathed in a cold light that contrasts with the cozy warmth inside. In the background, the wet street reflects the glow of a solitary streetlamp, while a stationary car seems frozen in time.
The two characters do not look at each other. Their bodies are close, but their gazes avoid one another, as if they were trapped in parallel thoughts. Every detail—the intact cups, the rigorous symmetry of the composition, the rigidity of their postures—emphasizes the sense of emotional distance and of waiting that remains unfinished.
Inspired by the world of Edward Hopper and by the aesthetics of American cinema from the 1940s–50s, this work explores solitude for two, those moments when the presence of the other does not soothe the void, but makes it feel even more perceptible. The viewer is invited to imagine what was said, or what will never be said, turning this painting into an open scene charged with tension and silent poetry.
